Consumer protection and e-commerce rules
Introduction
Helping businesses that sell to consumers, in stores and online, meet the rules on disclosure, advertising, pricing, returns and data.
Selling to consumers in the Kingdom is closely regulated. The E-Commerce Law sets disclosure duties for online sellers and gives consumers rights, including in many cases the right to cancel a purchase within seven days of receipt. The Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, the Ministry of Commerce's rules on pricing, warranties and discounts, and the advertising rules apply alongside it.
Influencer and online advertising is regulated too, and the General Authority for Media Regulation licenses influencers who advertise. Personal data collected from customers falls under the Personal Data Protection Law, including its rules on marketing messages.
We review websites, apps, terms of sale, return policies, marketing campaigns and loyalty programmes before they go live, and represent businesses in consumer complaints and Ministry of Commerce violations.
