Competition and merger control
Introduction
Advising on the Competition Law: agreements between competitors, dominant positions and merger control filings with the General Authority for Competition.
The Competition Law prohibits agreements that restrict competition, such as price fixing, market sharing and bid rigging, and the abuse of a dominant position. Fines can reach 10% of annual sales, and the General Authority for Competition actively investigates, including through unannounced inspections.
Mergers, acquisitions and some joint ventures that meet the turnover thresholds must be notified to the authority and cleared before completion. Completing without approval carries its own penalties, so the filing analysis belongs at the start of every deal.
We review distribution, supply and cooperation agreements, advise on pricing and commercial conduct, prepare economic concentration filings, and represent companies in investigations and before the authority's committees.
