Quasi-judicial and banking dispute committees
Introduction
Representing banks, finance companies, investors and businesses before the specialised committees that decide banking, finance, securities, tax and other regulatory disputes.
Many disputes in the Kingdom are decided outside the courts, by committees with their own jurisdiction, procedures and time limits. They include the banking and finance dispute committees, the committees for the resolution of securities disputes, and the zakat, tax and customs committees.
Quasi-judicial work is one of AZ&P's main areas of focus. We represent banks and finance companies in recovery claims and customer complaints, investors in securities claims, and companies objecting to assessments and penalties, and we prepare each case for the way that committee reads contracts, regulations and evidence.
Time limits before these committees are short and strict, and the decisions of several of them are appealed to a specialised appeal committee. We move quickly to secure the objection or claim, prepare the technical and financial evidence, and pursue the appeal where the first decision falls short.
