Construction and contractor claims
Introduction
Preparing, pursuing and defending claims for delay, variations, payment and defects on construction and infrastructure projects.
Construction disputes turn on records: programmes, notices, site correspondence and payment certificates. We act for owners, contractors and subcontractors on government and private projects, under FIDIC and other contract forms, and under the Civil Transactions Law's rules on contracting work.
Most claims are won or lost before the dispute begins. We help clients give notices on time, document delay and disruption, value variations and keep the claim alive under the contract's time bars, working with delay and quantum experts where the case needs them.
When claims cannot be settled we take them to the forum the contract provides: dispute boards, arbitration, the commercial courts or, for government contracts, the administrative courts of the Board of Grievances.
