Enforcement, anti-counterfeiting and border measures

Introduction

Stopping infringement and counterfeits in shops, online and at the border, and recovering the losses they cause.

Counterfeit goods and copied content damage revenue, reputation and, for some products, public safety. The tools to act include complaints to the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the Ministry of Commerce, customs measures at the border, civil claims for compensation and, in serious cases, criminal complaints.

Recording trademarks with customs lets the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority suspend suspected counterfeits at the ports and alert the right holder. Online, we work with marketplaces and platforms on takedowns, which the new Copyright Law strengthens through its notice and takedown rules.

We investigate the source, gather evidence, choose the fastest route that works, and pursue compensation: settling amicably where possible, litigating before the authority and the competent courts, and arbitrating where agreed.
