Bribery and corruption
Introduction
Preventing, investigating and defending bribery and corruption allegations involving companies, their executives and their intermediaries.
Fighting corruption is a national priority, and the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) investigates cases in the public and private sectors. The Anti-Bribery Law punishes those who offer, accept or mediate bribes, covers bribery in the private sector and of foreign public officials, and allows the company that benefits to be fined.
Most corporate exposure comes through intermediaries: agents, consultants, distributors and suppliers who deal with officials or customers on the company's behalf. We help companies vet and control them, and investigate quickly when red flags appear.
When an investigation begins, we represent companies and individuals before Nazaha, the Public Prosecution and the criminal courts, and advise on cooperation, disclosure and the steps that reduce the consequences for the business.
